Puffing Billy locomotive. This locomotive was one of the first steam engines used on railways. It was built in 1813-1814 by British engineer William Hedley at Wylan Colliery near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. It was fuelled by coal and capable of speeds of 8 kilometres per hour. This locomotive is displayed at the Science Museum in London. This photograph dates from between 1910 and 1925.
