An edict of the Shunzi Emperor (reign 1644 - 1661), Qing Dynasty, dated 24 June 1651 Certificate of commendation issued to the uncle and aunt of an official of education. Fine calligraphy in Han Chinese and Manchurian, in the centre two official seals with the emperor's name and date. Text on golden yellow silk brocade backed with paper. Dimensions 171 x cm. Shunzi was the first emperor of the Manchurian Qing Dynasty.
