In the first place the work shouldappeal to the pupil, fit the school environment, and besuited to the temperament and ability of pupils, rather thanfollow any hard and fast rule year after year, regardless ofthe change of pupils from year to year. ^^ho shall supervise and teach Manual Training? Ofcourse where possible there should be a special teacher, oc-cupying a special room with necessary equipment, but it isnot wise or necessary to wait for the special teacher beforecommencing the work. The regular grade teacher by giving Ohio University- Bulletin 63. 64 Ohio Unrtrsity Bulletix the subject some study and special preparation by attendinga six weeks summer school, could care for the work in herroon, on a small scale, which would be better than not toattempt to start the work until a special teacher and equip-ment may be secured. If there is more than one room,this teacher cotild help others after the work is once startedand there will be no trouble in showing the board of edu-cation the real value of the training, after which the specialteacher and equipment may be supplied. AMiat will be the expense of introducing i\Ianual Train-ing into the schools? The cost of introducing it will ofnecessity depend on the extent of equipment and extentof work, from a few dollars for a school of one room toseveral hundred dollars for a ward or city school.
