Parchment, Michigan – Following the discovery of high concentrations of PFAS in Parchment's drinking water, efforts are underway to connect the city's water system to that of nearby Kalamazoo, Michigan. A temporary solution is to pump water from a Kalamazoo fire hydrant, in the distance, to a Parchment hydrant. PFAS is a family of chemicals widely used in firefighting foam, waterproofing for clothing, and many other products. Exposure has been linked to a variety of serious diseases.
