Servicemembers and civilians start the 5K run race for the Army’s 242nd birthday, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, June 14, 2017. This year’s birthday message is readiness, which is the cornerstone of the total Army force’s ability to serve wherever it is needed throughout its 242 year legacy. The American Soldier trains, deploys, engages, and destroys enemies of the United States in combat operations as the world’s premier land force.
