Sally [Edwards], very pleasant looking, knows more than her sister. Little [Thomas] Nast enjoyed himself hugely, as did all. [Edward] Wells did his fandango. Broke up about 12. I must put down Wells more in detail. He is an strong extreme type of a not uncommon character, amiability whose immolation and self-sacrifice towards some object partakes of the feminine. The story is that a love affair, terminating in the girl's jilting him, or at all events marrying another wooer, has tinged his whole nature.
