Illuminated, multi-coloured north facade of the Metropole Hotel, Princess Parade, North Shore, Blackpool Illuminations, UK
The Metropole Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Blackpool (and the only one directly on the shoreline), opening in 1785, as Bailey's Hotel. In 1896 it was re-named 'Hotel Metropole'. In 1900 it underwent renovation and expansion, giving it the Victorian appearance it has today. Trams use the carriageway of the A584 promenade road to get round the Metropole Hotel, whose old location disrupts the tramway. The Hotel is currently owned by the Britannia Group. The facade of the hotel was illuminated with multi-colours in 2016. A view of the north facade, with the vertical 'Metropole' name.
