Male Mountain Ringlet butterfly feeding on Tormentil in England's Lake District

The Mountain Ringlet is Britain's only Alpine butterfly. In Britain it is only found on the high fells of the Lake District and Scotland. It is also Britain's most difficult butterfly to photograph as it only flies for a week or two, and even then it only flies in sunshine.
