Venev. Church of the Lord's Epiphany. Russia

Until the second half of the XVII century, there is no evidence of the Venev, there was a monastery (ancient Venev-Nikolsky monastery stood far from the city) and among the seven churches mentioned in the "Watch and the census book of Venev" (1636), the Epiphany Church there. Existed in the monastery a stone Church of the Epiphany of the XVII century in 1766 - after the closing of the monastery was demolished because of decay and built again as a parish Builder (normal venevsky merchant) Ivan Borodin with parishioners. That may have been used by the ancient foundations and to some extent preserved ancient forms. At least, the architecture of the temple bears traces of the influence of Moscow Baroque of the late XVII century - except that the window frames in style clearly belong to the XVIII century. In the XIX century the Church of his ward had, and belonged to Nicholas Cathedral, and the attractions it has been preserved handwritten gospel 1685. To date, the place of the former monastery complex is located Epiphany and Kazan churches of the XVIII century. In the Soviet years the temple housed the collection point for glass containers. Currently, the Church reopened for worship and restored.
