Ordinary wire nail? and a hammer may be used with satis-faction, but the want of temper and point makes them ratherless convenient. If the nail first inserted does not effectively fix the piecesof broken bone, it should be withdrawn and re-inserted, orone or two additional nails should be used. The placing ofthe nails will be found much more easy in open than in closedfractures; and will require more skill and patience in com-minuted fractures than in those in which there are but twofragments.
