Memorial for murdered Police Woman Bradford UK A week after the murder of Pc Sharon Beshenivsky people in the city of Bradford have joined together to hold a two minute silence in her memory Pc Beshenivsky was shot dead and her colleague Pc Teresa Milburn injured during a robbery at a travel agents Hundreds of people from across the city were joined by senior police officers and civic leaders for the silence and a special commemoration service These events were held in the memorial garden just a short walk from the street where Sharon was killed The service was led by the Bishop of Bradford the Right Reverend David James The Lord Mayor said people in the city wanted to show their feelings for and express their deepest sympathy to Sharon s husband Paul and her children her parents and her family and friends She added This tragedy highlights the debt we owe to our Police often with little opportunity to acknowledge Councillor Binney said Sharon s murder will be forever etched onto the memories of the people of the city The citizens of Bradford indeed the whole of the UK are shocked and outraged at what happened here in our city last week There is a certainty here that PC Sharon Beshenivsky s sacrifice will never be forgotten We say thank you to all the community for this act of solidarity against this callous crime On the stroke of the City Hall bell at 3 30 pm there was a two minute silence
