Locals and visitors alike walk up to the top of the main dune to see the sunset. It was New Year holidays so quite busy and festive. The rustic, small village - known by locals as 'Jeri' has broad streets of sand flanked by numerous guesthouses, cafes and boutiques. The remote area is a desert landscape of huge dunes and lagoons beside the Atlantic. The beach is considered by many as one of the most beautiful in the world - certainly one of the most extraordinary settings. The nearest city is Fortaleza, six hour's drive away.
