This is an infect of large fize, and elegant appearance, and isgenerally efteemed among collectors in Britain on account of itsrarity. It neverthelefs occurs fometimes in abundance in particularfituations, as for example in fome parts of Yorkfhire, and alfo inDevonfhire. In the latter County at Knowle near Kingsbridge takes it in confiderable plenty in his own garden throughoutthe fummer. The fame fpecies inhabits Germany. The transformations of this curious Moth are altogether unknown.
