In the first, the plan is the arc of acircle; and in the second, it is two externalobtuse angles, formed by the two projectingwalls and the wall which unites them, and twointernal obtuse angles, formed by the two pro- jecting walls and the straight wall of thebuilding from which they project. Sometimesthe bow is carried the whole height of abuilding, and sometimes it is carried no higherthan to the first or second stories. Canted orpolygonal bow, a bow which has three, four, orfive vertical sides, raised from a polygonalplan, or from a prism, so disposed. Bracket, a support for shelves, &c.
