The 50228 tonnes Heerema 'Aegir' subsea heavy lift construction vessel approaching the entrance to the river Tyne at North Shields, North Tyneside, transporting a wind turbine jacket (legs) from her massive crane for a seaward voyage to Scotland. The wind turbine jacket is the foundation or legs that are sunk into the seabed, which the ship is carrying that the wind turbine is then secured to above sea level and each yellow jacket weighs 1,300 tons and are around 80 metres in height. After securing these wind turbine legs to the vessels 4,500 metric ton payload lifting capacity crane the 'Aegir' will sail to Scotland with the jacket suspended over her side to a wind farm in Scotland before returning to the Tyne in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK for repeat operations until the contract is completed with the company.
