Thomas Müntzer (1489 – 1525) an early Reformation German theologian, who became a rebel leader during the Peasants' War. He turned against Luther, and supported the Anabaptists. Defeated in the Battle of Frankenhausen, Müntzer was captured, tortured and decapitated; from an engraving published in Life of Luther by Julius Kostlin, 1900
