A 3 picture stitch panoramic aerial view of Rye taken from the top of the bell tower in St Mary's Parish Church on a sunny day.

The small town of Rye was in medieval times an important member of the Cinque Ports and almost entirely surrounded by the sea. It is officially a civil parish but with its historic roots has the status of a town. The history of smuggling gangs of the 18th and 19th centuries, enchanting cobbled streets, a medieval church and beautifully preserved historic houses from medieval, Tudor and Georgian times make it a popular tourist destination.
