The left edge of the tablet—111.—forms the inside of the corner, as it joins the sqnarebase of the obelisk, which brings Mississippi on astraight surface. The bands or links connecting thetablets are well (Fig. 9.) U. S. COAT OF ARMS, The statue of Mr. Lincoln will stand, as previouslydescribed, on a pedestal projecting from the south sideof the obelisk, seven, feet above the four pedestal for the statue of Lincoln is to have theUnited States coat of arms, in bronze, sunk in a recesson its front. The coat of arms, as shown in Figure 9,is somewhat modified, and is in bas relief. It will be observed that the shield, with part of the AND THE XATIOXAT.
