Blue sky view, towards Beecher Statue, white stall selling fruit vegetables, Brooklyn Borough Hall Market, Columbus Plaza, NY

The Brooklyn Borough Hall Greenmarket sells farm-fresh local produce. Such greenmarkets promote regional agriculture, to ensure a supply of fresh produce to New Yorkers. Small family farmers sell fruit and vegetables at the Borough Hall market on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. At the north end of Columbus Plaza, in the background of the shot, we see the bronze statue of esteemed clergyman, slave abolitionist and orator Henry Ward Beecher (1813-87), who took charge of the newly formed Plymouth Congregational Church, Brooklyn Heights, in 1847.
