Staten Island Coast Guard officer awarded Bronze Star Medal. Coast Guard Lieut. Frank D. Hilditch, commanding officer of a Coast Guard Combat Cutter, has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his outstanding service in making possible the eventual salvage of a flaming and derelict tanker carrying a large cargo of high octane aviation gasoline.
