The constellation of Aquarius, the Waterbearer. Aquarius is a large and important autumn constellation for northern observers, containing around one hundred naked-eye stars. It is one of the twelve zodiacal constellations, lying between Pisces and Capricornus. In ancient times the whole surrounding area was associated with water or rain. The Babylonians called it the Sea and populated it with ocean creatures like Cetus (the Whale), Pisces (the Fishes), Capricornus (the Sea Goat) and Delphinus (the Dolphin), all under the control of Aquarius. The Egyptian symbol for water is the same as that used today for Aquarius. See \Observing the Constellations\" page 18."
