American tree sparrow (Spizella arborea) perched on a branch. This is a ground-nesting bird which breeds in tundra or the northern limits of the boreal forest in Alaska and northern Canada. It migrates to the United States or southern Canada to overwinter. They feed on seeds, berries and insects found on the ground. Photographed in Michigan, USA.
