Compressed air car. Engineer conducting tests on the engine of the Air Car. This car is powered entirely by compressed air, resulting in non- polluting emissions. Tanks within the vehicle store up to 90 cubic metres of compressed air. The expansion of this air pushes the pistons in the engine, creating movement. A fully charged tank gives a driving range of approximately 150 kilometres (93 miles) and has a top speed of 110 kilometres per hour (68 miles per hour). It can be filled with air from a high pressure air station in 2 minutes, or via a mains connection for 4 hours. The Air Car is due for production at the end of 2005.
