The graduation of the outlines andthe judicious application and arrangement of the ornaments combine wellwith the supporting terminal feet. The cover is unfortunately wanting. Formed in two stages, the upper one rests upon the heads of threesatyrs, whose feet, ending as floriated terminals, support the base. Masks,alternating with shells and seated lions, ornament the moulding imme-diately below the cover. The under part, which is of double width, isenriched between each supporting satyr with masks in high relief, andwith very elegantly disposed scrolls running along the whole sur
