A double-barrelled shotgun, James Purdey, London, ca. 1860. Browned damascus barrels in 17 mm calibre (one muzzle slightly dented). The lockplates finely engraved with pheasants and dogs and signed "Purdey". The left hammer heavily polished, presumably after a repair. Walnut halfstock with iron furniture and silver escutcheon. Wooden ramrod. Metal surfaces and finish redone, the engravings polished off in places. Length 106 cm. James Purdey (1828 - 1909) London.
