The recent drought has caused a good deal ofanxiety, and the yield in this country can scarcelybe an average, though the quality might be somecompensation in ordinary times. Unfortunately, the flat rate which the Government enforces hasprevented quality from obtaining its price in themarket. The American crop is in process of reap-ing, and a yield of 16 bushels is assured, so it is6aid, in all the chief winter wlicit States. Thespring wheat crop is of an average promise. Theimports of wheat last week were l,178,000cwt., against917,000cwt. in the like week of last year. The priceof all imported wheat is a uniform one to the Baltic and other exchanges, which buv cargoeson the high sea—namely 80s. per 4801b., but thesehave a slightly raised value on being divided up,and those which come in bags are priced at Is. than the others.
