A microscope is used at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base, Fla. to identify the species and sex of mosquitoes. Two mosquito species, Aedes Agypti and Aedes Albopictus, carry and transmit the Zika virus. Aedes Agypti is the primary vector for the Zika virus and can also spread other diseases, such as dengue and yellow fevers. It has a typical flight range of 400 meters, prefers to be indoors and bites humans primarily during daylight hours. Aedes Albopictus has a typical flight range of 200 meters, prefers to be outdoors and prefers to bite during the day. /Staff Sgt. Andrew Lee
