The other caves, however, facedeep water and can be visited with safety only at extremely low tides and by peoplein bathing suits. This latter condition is not obligatory on visitors, but is sug-gested for their personal comfort. The White Lady, formed by the bright light atthe entrance and outlined bv the walls of the cave, is found in the fourth cave. A STREET OF COTTAGE CITY, LA JOLLA STRAND from the Devils Slide. It is well illustrated, and can \)e kept as a souvenir of La Jolla. TheDevils Slide is a highway to unique Rocky Beach. Many of the fine abaloneshells are found on the rocks here at low tides. Formerly the people slid down theface of this cliff and then climbed up again as they could. Now, a stairwayof about one hundred steps makes the visit to this beach one of greater personalcomfort. Long Beach, further to the north, is a long, smooth, white, sandybeach, probably a mile in length. At either end of this beach will be encounteredhigh V)luffs and rocky beaches, which prove a source of much interest to students ofbeach formations.
