A late 19th century view of Laxey Wheel (also known as Lady Isabella) is built into the hillside above the village of Laxey in the Isle of Man. The largest working waterwheel in the world with a 72-foot-6-inch ( m) diameter, revolving at approximately three revolutions per minute. It was designed by Robert Casement in 1854 to pump water from the Great Laxey Mines industrial complex, employing over 600 miners at its peak, producing lead, copper, silver and zinc, until it closed in 1929.
