Milky Way stars and nebulae. The two bright stars at top are Alpha Centauri (third-brightest star in the night sky) and Beta Centauri. Below these is the dark Coalsack nebula and the constellation Crux (the Southern Cross). Gamma Crux (centre right) is a red giant star. Below Crux is the Eta Carina Nebula (pink, lower centre).
