Vattxs Swift. Chtviura vauxi. Range.—Western United States, chiefly west ofthe Rockies; breeding north to British Columbia,and wintering south of the United States. Similar to the last but smaller(length inches), and paler incolor, fading to white on thethroat. The habits of this spe-cies are like those of the east-ern Chimney Swift, except thatthe majority of tjiese species stillcontinue to use hollow trees asnesting places. The eggs are just like those ofthe last bird.
