Swollen and reddened leg in a 66 year old female patient with deep vein thrombosis (DVT). DVT is the formation of a clot (thrombus) within deep lying veins. This DVT was secondary to inflammation of veins near the surface of the skin (superficial thrombophlebitis), and the patient also had a pulmonary embolism (clot in the lung).
