Jules-Cesar Robuchon, 1880, by Émile Rat

Robuchon arrived in Poitiers during the last decades of the 19th century, where he opened his own studio on the rue du Moulin-à-Vent. Also a skilled portraitist and sculptor, it is Robuchon's photographic work that has given him a place in history. He took thousands of stereotypes of the three regions of Poitou (Vienne, Vendee, Deux-Sèvres) which were reproduced as postcards but also as a twelve-volume publication, "Landscapes and Monuments of Poitou," which appears to have been published for the first time in 1886
