A small town in the province of Cáceres, Trujillo was the birthplace of Francisco Pizarro González, Spanish conquistador, conqueror of the Inca Empire and founder of Lima, capital of Peru. The palace of Piedras Albas is one of many fine mansions overlooking the Plaza Mayor.
