Dennis Metz, front, jog down the flight deck during a boot shoot aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). Boot shoots are a Navy tradition in which a ceremony is held for the departing shooter by launching a pair of boots off the ship by catapult. Theodore Roosevelt is currently underway off the coast of Southern California. (
