View over field to the Royal Station at Wolferton, Sandringham, Norfolk, UK
Wolferton is a village in north Norfolk 2 miles from Sandringham. Wolferton is best known for the Royal railway station. Queen Victoria opened the station in 1862 after she had purchased Sandringham House as a Norfolk retreat. Several generations of the royal family used the station when travelling to Sandringham until its closure in 1969. The station buildings and signal box are well preserved. The 13th century St Peters church was damaged by fire in the 15th century and restored in the 19th century.
