This department, with anarea 176% by 150 ft., is the larger por-tion of the car department, and it is inthis department that the portion ofthe car overhauling, consisting for themost part of repainting and generalbrightening up, is performed. The northwall of this section, shown in fig. 11, isthe sash and door finishing section, inwhich all the removable parts of the carbody are finished; this includes painting,. The section of the shop to the west ofthe transfer table is used entirely for carbody work, and on account of the in-llammable nature of the material contain-ed, it is divided off from the rest of the^hop at the transfer table edge by a cor-rugated iron wall, as shown on the left infig. 4.
