As the report points out,it was not necessary to make experiments in choosinga system, because there has already been sufficient ex-perience on numerous railways to permit a decision onthis point, at least as far as the single-phase and three-phase systems are concerned. The project approved by the board of directors onNov. 25, 1913, was based on the single-phase view of the fact that the Loetschberg electrificationwith single-phase had not then been crowned with thesuccess which it has since achieved, the reservationmade in the earlier report as to the type of system wasa wise one. The board of managers has, in accordancewith its promise, carefully studied all available systemsin the meantime, and has utilized competent advice asto the form and frequency of the primary electricalpower which should be used.
