Bald Eagle flying and fishing near Homer Alaska
IN HOMER AK, EAGLES GATHER IN THE EARLY SPRING WHEN THE WATERS ARE FREE OF ICE AND FISH ARE ABUNDANT. AT FIVE YEARS OF AGE, BALD EAGLES GET WHITE HEADS AND TAILS. IMMATURE BALD EAGLES ARE BROWN WITH WHITE PATCHES AND ARE FREQUENTLY MISTAKEN FOR GOLDEN EAGLES. AS SPRING TURNS TOWARD SUMMER THE EAGLES LEAVE THE IMMEDIATE HARBOR TO MATE AND BUILD NESTS TO RAISE THEIR YOUNG.
