Winter solstice celebrations on Brighton beach Sussex England UK Great Britain


A group of artists called "Same Sky" erect a giant fire puppet by sculptor "Paul Harrington" in a river of fire on Brighton beach as a rehearsal for the group's "Winter Solstice" celebrations "The Burning of the Clocks" The traditional annual celebration of the "shortest night of the year" involves up to 400 effigies carried by about 600 participating schoolchildren and adults in Sussex.
