The big drop pit, which willtake all the wheels out from under an en-gine at once, is still in active service. Ir>addition to this one in the erecting shop,there is one for drivers and one for truckwheels in the roundhouse. The old offices at the end of the ma-chine shop are now used for motion workand rod work; one of the rooms is for in-jectors and lubricators. The new officebuilding is on the hill overlooking theshops. Oil-burning furnaces are used for springwork and for welding flues. Flues are allrolled with an air motor. When workingat the firebox end, the motor sets on theengine deck, and the shaft goes throughthe firebox door at the front end; themotor sets on the pilot beam. Three ofthese motors are in service. Pneumatictools are used wherever they will expeditethe work. Ingersoll-Sergeant compres-sor, handling 500 cubic feet of fiee air perminute, keeps the tools running. At
