Toung; semiloopers, prolegs with the 1st two pairs aborted ; dark brown or blackish, each somite with 14 to 20 piliferous warts each with one erect hair or two divergent ones, the setae stiff, bulbous at tips ; head dark, the frons triangular, the apex indented, the eyes with 8 to 10 hairs. *5978. Head and thorax white with black spots on shoulders, middle of patagia, and dorsum of thorax, tbe metathorax with band, these markings with blue scales mixed; palpi black at tips ; antennae blackish ; fore tibiae black above, the tarsi black ringed with white ; abdomen orange above, white below. Fore wing white with small orange patch at apex and with black dots and bars, six spots on costa, a round spot in cell followed by four transverse bars, the 3rd connected with a spot on costa; a short streak on base of inner margin, followed by five transverse bars from median nervure to inner margin, the 1st not quite reaching it, the 3rd and 5th narrower and sometimes broken in the male ; three or four sub- terminal spots in male, in female a complete series ; a terminal series of black blotches, in the male forming quadrat
