Justin and Mercy (Hoyt) Hitchcock, was born at Deerfield,Mass., Nov. 6, 1783. He married Oct. 29, 1810, Betsey Kimberly,daughter of Capt. Nathaniel Kimberly of West Haven, Conn. Hesettled in Deerfield, was deacon of the church, and a saddler bytrade. He died Aug. 19, 1861. His widow died Jan. 16, children were : 487. i. Nathaniel, b. June 22, 1812; m. He married Feb. 23, 1821, Lois Baker,daughter of Isaac Baker of Conway, Mass. He settled in hisnative place, Deerfield ; became deacon of the Congregational churchthere, taught singing school and led the singing in the church formany years.
