Rockwall Deadly Tornado
The day after Christmas, the Dallas area experienced an out break of strong EF-4 tornadoes. The damage took 11 lives and destroyed 1100 homes. Another 1100 more homes were damaged severely. The two areas that suffered the most damage were Garland and Rowlett. Eight of the 11 killed were on I-30 at the George Bush Turnpike when one tornado swept across the raised roadway of 1-30 and blew the cars down onto the service roads below.
