Lofty, deciduous-leaved trees, with widely-spreading branchesand a dense, broad foliage having a pentangular of Europe, Asia, Northern Africa, and the temperateparts of North America. The species about three. Leavesalternate, palmate; the bud concealed beneath a conical envelopand immersed in the base of the petiole. The young shootsand leaves covered with a deciduous down.
