Greenpeace's melting snowman and drowning Earth in front of the Parliament in Copenhagen at the UN Climate Change Conference. Climate march.

Demonstrators around Greenpeace's melting snowman and drowning Earth at the demonstration in front of the Parliament building in Copenhagen during the UN Climate Change Conference. Up to 100,000 demonstrators from nearly 500 climate groups and organizations from all over the world with colourful banners and placards with very different messages took part in the demonstration starting at the Parliament Square at Christiansborg with speeches at 1 o'clock pm on Saturday December 12. An hour later the demonstration started the 6 km march to the Bella Centre to continue the demonstration outside the official conference building. Most of the demonstration was peaceful and a family event for a great number of people. However, about a thousand demonstrators were arrested on the way to the Bella Centre of which some had a different and more violent agenda than the vast majority of the participants in the peaceful demonstration. Among the 1000 detainees were a great number of innocent people caught in the crowd in the wrong place at the right time.
