Sacred Ibis An African Sacred Ibis in full flight
The African Sacred Ibis (Latin name Threskiornis aethiopicus) is found widespread in Africa south of the Sahara. The African Sacred Ibis is a large bird much bigger than a Pied Crow and stands about 89 cm high and weight is about 1250 g. The head, bill, throat and legs are black. The eye is brown and the back is white. The male African Sacred Ibis plumage and colours are different to that of the female African Sacred Ibis.
