A Dani warrior showing off his archery equipment and skills. WEST PAPUA, INDONESIA: In one image, four warriors sat on the straw-covered ground covered in body paint, wearing birds-of-paradise feather headdresses, necklaces and armbands, and with ceremonial facial piercings and other adornments. In another, one of the warriors - who wore a huge headdress and chainmail necklace - held his raised bow and arrow pointed directly at the camera as if he were going to strike the photographer with his arrow. The striking photos were taken by Technician Johan Gerrits (58) from Utrecht, The Netherlands. He captured the photographs in West Papua, Indonesia, using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II with EF16-35mm II and EF70-200mm IS II lenses. Johan spent one week amongst the Dani tribe capturing the enchanting images. @johan_gerrits_photography
