Oblique night beach portrait towards illuminated Skyscreamer, Skycoaster rides, end of the South Pier, Blackpool Illuminations
The South Pier, dating to 1893, and using Worthington Screwpile water jets to drive the pile in, is the newest of Blackpool's three piers. It is metres (429 feet) long and wide enough for a bandstand, a few shops, fortune teller, ice-cream stall and photo booth. It now features amusement rides of varying difficulty, Towards its end are the white-knuckle Skycoaster and Skyscreamer bungee jump rides. A night portrait from the beach on the north side of the pier towards the illuminated Skyscreamer and Skycoaster rides at the pier's end.
