Ariane 5 cryogenic tank production. Workers finish assembling the interior of an Ariane 5 cryogenic tank. This tank forms the main stage of the Ariane 5 rocket. The interior is divided into two compartments. A small forward section holds 130 tonnes of liquid oxygen and a larger rear section holds 25 tonnes of liquid hydrogen. The tank is made of 3mm-thick aluminium, insulated on the outside by a 2cm layer of expanded polyurethane. The ends of the tanks are also insulated and have an aluminium foil covering for protection. Photographed at the Cryospace factory, Les Mureaux, France.
